New English Bar in Alberic

bar_ableric.gif  People living in the Alberic and surrounding areas can now look forward to popping down to their English local, Bar Pastor. Sue and Jerry Redman have both spent many years in the catering industry. Sue owned and catered in a bar in London for 15 years and together the couple ran the 400 year old “Greenman” village pub in Lidlington, Bedfordshire. Sue and Jerry told I.T, “we came in December and purchased the bar from a local Spanish family with the intention of coming back in the New Year, but the early arrival of our baby daughter, Stephanie meant our plans were delayed slightly”. The couple had thought about moving to Spain for many years for that much sought after change of lifestyle. They have no intentions of turning this previously Spanish owned bar into an English bar but would prefer to encourage both to enjoy the food, drink and atmosphere that the place has to offer. They told IT, “We really want to keep the Spanish feel of the bar; we have a Spanish chef, Violetta, who has worked here with the previous owners and she will continue to work with us.” They will be offering a selection of traditional Spanish and English meals. You can pop in for a full English breakfast or bocadilla, or make the most of your lunchtime with a ‘Menu del Dia’ for 7€. During the evening a full English and Spanish menu will be available and on Sundays the English constitution of Sunday Roast for 8.50€ is available from 2 till 6. Times for Sunday roast will alter as the summer progresses so keep your eye out for future adverts. To avoid disappointment please book early for Sunday roasts as their meat is ordered from the English butcher. Although, they have only recently opened they are already making plans for the future which include darts matches, satellite TV for all you World Cup fans, quiz nights and live music. The bar is open Tuesday to Saturday 9.30 till 3.30 and 6 till late (Sundays from 2pm). Sue and Jerry would like to thank all their friends with special thanks to, Gill and Steve for all there help and support over the last few months. Pop along to Bar Pastor it is light, airy and spacious with seating inside and out and you can be sure of a warm welcome. I.T wish Sue and Jerry all the best for the future. See main advert on page 31 and don't forget to take along the voucher which entitles you to a free drink.
