U3A monthly meetings

At their last monthly meeting, Oliva U3A was entertained by the choir from Calpe U3A, led by Mary Anderton. The performance was superb and the audience very appreciative. The choir sang songs from the musicals, and their rendition of ‘Sunrise, Sunset’ had more than a few people surreptitiously dabbing their eyes.

Also at the meeting Councillor Paqui Lopéz presented our 300th member, Carol Hales, with a gift case of Cava to mark the occasion. This was a complete shock to Carol, who had not known anything about the presentation.

Before the meeting members were able to look at displays of group activities, including a mini exhibition by Jackie Clarke, a member of the Art group. Also on view were pictures taken at the May Ball, which some of our members attended, by kind invitation of Javea U3A. All agreed that it was one of their best nights out ever.

There will be one more meeting on June 26th before we take a break during July and August. In September the new activities programme will begin. With 28 different activity groups, and varied excursions and events there is something for everybody!

The U3A (University of the Third Age) is an international organisation, open to English speaking people of all nationalities who are no longer in fulltime employment. It is a great way to make friends and to keep mentally and physically activity in retirement.
