Tip No.1 Winter Propagating

Winter propagatingNow is the time for the annual garden cutback and clean up to ensure that plants will be of appropriate shapes and sizes next spring and summer and that they will give good non leggy flower displays and if fruit trees yield good crops. The cutback will produce piles of material that can  be shredded and composted but also many prunings of succulents shrubs and perennial plants that can be used as cuttings to produce new inexpensive plants of your favourites.

As explained in Section 6.12 of Your garden in Spain – From planning to planting and maintenance ISBN  978-84-89954-670  cuttings can be rooted in compost in pots, deep plastic cutting trays and fish boxes from the local fish shop. Make an investment in a small container of rooting powder to improve your success rates.
