PEGO GOLF SOCIETY "PAIRS" BETTER BALL STABLEFORD

pegogolfOLIVA NOVA GOLF COURSE TUESDAY 12TH OF MARCH. I'm not saying my golf game went bad, but if I grew tomatoes, they'd come up sliced. - Lee Trevino

Weather at Oliva Nova :- It was a pleasant morning when we started the round , but it gradually becoming cloudy and colder with a strong northerly wind. Today, we had 43 members turning out for today's event. We welcomed two guest players, namely Andy and Julie Hilton. The course was in excellent condition considering. The fairways were reasonably dry and the greens had not lost their pace, but tended to be a little bumpy at times.

The scores were superb considering the conditions and the winners were as follows :-

4st Place :- 41 Points Barry Levet and Patrick Lynch played great as a team

3nd Place :- 44 Points Donna Green and Terry Langley with an excellent 44 points

Donna is in the form of her life at the moment and that is so good to see.

2nd Place :- 45 Points Angus Muir and Thelma Saul came in with an incredible 45 points

1st Place :- 49 Points Donal Murphy and Clive Wright dovetailed to perfection to beat them all, with an outstanding score. Well done to Donal and Clive

It is just as well that there is no reduction of handicap today, as I believe the axe would have been wielded. To all of the winners very well played, and it shows the depth of talent here in Pego Golf Society

Balls in the water:- There were 124 balls in the water and because there was no winner, it is a roll over until next Tuesday.

There were no 2,s recorded at any Par 3's this week, so again it is a roll over until next week.

Nearest the Pin at Hole No 3 was Malcolm Wise and nearest the Pin at Hole No 16 was again Malcolm Wise.

Shame he can't putt !!

Just a final note, and that is to recognise that our captain from last year Steve Patton celebrated his 65th birthday today, so from all of us Steve in Pego and I am sure from your many friends in the Costa Blanca, a very happy birthday Steve, and we wish you many more.

Steve kindly donated a bottle up as it was his birthday, and in a free draw, the winner was David O'Conner

In conclusion, it was an good competition today, with an interesting format and I am sure that all our members enjoyed the day.

We welcome guest players every week, so if you would like to play with Pego Golf Society
