Latest darts, 23rd June

Well the World Cup has finally kicked off and brought with it various changes for the teams. Everyone has been very amicable and managed to rearrange matches so as to ensure everyone gets to see those all important matches. Well done to all the teams and venues and keep up the good work, we’ve another few weeks to get through yet…..hopefully if England manage to stay in the competition that long!

I, finally managed to get out and play a few games myself last week at The Plough in Villena, brilliant night, thanks to Steve and all the lads for their hospitality. The girlies of Rockola B played some great games, but need to practice those all important doubles.

A diversion on the road to Ontinyent caused a late start for the Rockola A and Athena game. The Rockola boys thought they were in for their first ever 8-0 scoreline..not to be. A quick phone call revealed the Athena Bar team were up a mountain making their way to the bar. A late start caused a late finish but most seemed quite happy to continue drinking will the last few games were played.

After a few weeks of 8-0 score lines the Yorkshire Rose have meet up with some competition at Ricardo’s and The Plough. Although the Sax team still won overall they at least had a bit of competition to test their abilities.

Rose at Ricardos has been recruiting Spanish players although their technique needs a little fine tuning. According to Rose the method used for the electronic darts, very popular here, is to throw as hard as possible in the general direction of the board!! Which means our fine old English version tends to become a very dangerous spectator sport!

The season still has seven weeks to run, but already there’s talk of the next one. So, if you didn’t pull your finger out in time and get a team together for this tournament then get thinking now. All those involved in the tournament have had a great time visiting and playing the various bars around the area, so don’t miss out on all the fun.
