pego-golf-2013OLIVA NOVA GOLF COURSE TUESDAY 30th of April 2013 -Quote of the Week: "Give me the fresh air, a beautiful partner, and a nice round of golf... And you can keep the fresh air and the round of golf." The wonderful Jack Benny. Weather at Oliva Nova :-After four days of continuous heavy rain, the course was in amazing condition considering just how much rain had fallen. Blue sky greeted our members this morning, and the sun shone for about nine holes, then back came the menacing dark clouds, with the rain trying to spoil a wonderful day for golf.

Congratulations to Oliva Nova Golf Club for presenting a golf course, in such pristine condition for us today, with perfect fairways, greens to play on. The tees were well back, and nearly all the pins had front green placement. With all the rain, there was no run on the fairway, so it was a day to be patient

Today, we had 43 members turning out for today's event. We welcomed three guest players, namely Sarah Green, Oliver Luscombe and Gerd Kunath. We had a guest prize today and that was won by Sarah Green, (daughter of Donna Green) with a very good score of 37 Points

In Division 1 playing handicap up to 21

1st Place playing off 15.1 handicap was Brendan Young with 39 Points

2nd Place playing off 5.1 handicap was Martin Gates with 34 Points

3rd Place playing off 8 handicap was Colin Foster with 34 Points

In Division 2 with handicap over 21

Congratulations to all of our winners for some really good golf today.

Nearest the Pin at hole No 3, was David Blakeley, and at hole 16 Paul Singh was only 40 cms from the hole

There were two 2's today, and one went to Malcolm Wise, who once again donated all winnings to the charity supported by ex-captain Steve Patton. The other 2 was from Paul Singh, who did not have any difficulty putting it from 40 cms. Congratulations to Paul for a great two.

In the Society match-play event, Jim Gillies beat Dave Collins 4/3 and Chris Brooks beat Thelma Saull 2/1, in a replay of the first match which finished all square last week.

In conclusion, it was a very good competition played in the best of spirit, and enjoyed by all our members
