Vallada is one of those beautiful villages that, when you find it you are torn between telling everyone you know all about it, or keeping it a secret.

It is the kind of place many of us imagined when we first thought about moving to inland Spain. You will find very little about Vallada on the internet or at the tourist offices, but then as a rule this is normally the case. The best places are usually only found because a Spanish friend or neighbour has told you about it or you happen to stumble across it, by luck.
On this occasion I found out about Vallada from Jose Giner, the owner of Inmobiliaria Vallada, which is located on the main street of Vallada, Avd. Molinets 15.
Vallada is a small village with a population of 3,363 inhabitants. It is situated a mere 24 km from Xativa, 16 km from Ontinyent and 1 hour from Alicante and Valencia airport. It is a main producer of furniture and home decoration, which is made from wicker, cane, bamboo and rattan.
The area has a host of things to do. It is particularly popular with walkers and climbers, with it’s beautiful mountains and countryside paths and for the professional climbers there are the numerous prehistoric caves- Cave Santa (Eneolítico), Cave of the Carreter (Bronze), Cave Covatxes (Bronze).
Well-known is the underground river "Tunnel dels Sumidors which runs through the Peno Mountain. The water is salty and said to have healing properties. Go to the top of the mountain and you will come across Eagles rock and a Muslim castle. At the foot of the mountain is a salt water swimming pool and barbecue area.
Jose Giner told Inland Trader that property prices are still very reasonable in Vallada.
