Tony Antony Rivers and the Rockets

do El Cid
January 14th saw the Inland and Coastal Trader being invited to the Xmas dinner event of the Denia Cats Protection League (see separate story). However entertainment that evening was provided by Tony and Anthony Rivers who kindly gave up their time to do this concert for free – a great gesture.
They played a lot of different songs ranging from Maroon 5 to Eddie Cochrane with lots in between. The crowds really loved the night and a great time was had by all. However one song they sang which caught me by surprise and came as a shock, was Frank Sinatra’s “I’ve got You Under My Skin”. I have heard Tony and Ant sing many times before but never have I heard Tony deliver a song with such a raspy deep voice. I have to be honest, it took my breath away – great resonance, smooth delivery it was almost the great man himself. I am not an avid fan of Big Frank but Tony (and Later Ant) did a very admirable job of this song. Well done boys you certainly made an impression. And I am sure I speak for everyone there when I say thank you for a great performance and for getting the crowds up and dancing.
New Bar opening
Bar Taverner will open its doors as a music venue and one of the few with a music licence and great backing from the local town hall, on January 28th. To kick things off who better than Graham Foster and his band to start proceedings. Danny, the owner, is very enthusiastic about his music and wants to attract a wode audience of different tastes. However in the Summer we can expect some special events as he has a large garden which will make a perfect venue for a summer concert – something which he is already planning. Danny expects that the first few months he will have one or two acts per month, but by Summer time it should be at least weekly – but this depends on you the audience to turn up, so get along there and support this worthy venture, see some great music and have a great time.
The Rockets Return
Magnums bar in Oliva, is having its next event on 20th January – which is tonight – so get along there pronto. Jools Cooper and the Rockets are playing so hopefully there will be a great crowd turns out for Jools and the boys. The next event after that is Graham Foster again – who will be playing on the 18th February. The music scene seems to be hotting up again – which is always good news. But remember it needs your input – you have to be there.
Keep it live and see you soon.
